Bullard Company Factory

Bullard Company was founded as the Bridgeport Machine Tool Works by E.P. Bullard in 1880 and moved into Fairfield in 1920. The factory specialized in producing tools such as the vertical turret lathe.
The factory closed in the early 1980s after roughly a century in business. BJ's Wholesale Club currently occupies a part of the former factory site.

Bradley Axe factory, on Lyons Plains Road, Weston, Conn. This factory manufactured a wide variety of tools. Residents as far away as Fairfield and Southport claimed that they could hear the hammers ringing on cold mornings. The factory burned down in 1911.
