Description

The old Fairfield Rubber Co. at 85 Mill Plain Rd, later bought and expanded by Du Pont. Mill Plain Rd is in foreground.

The Fairfield Rubber Company was founded in 1879. The company was bought by the E.I. Dupont DeNemours Co. in 1916 and the name was changed to Dupont Fabrikoid. For several decades the company made glazed rubber for cars. Some time after, the company became Fairprene Industrial Products Co. Inc. before closing in 2003.
