The Community Theatre was opened in 1922. The building was built on a swamp known as Hyde's Pond. As a result of this, the foundation had to be stabilized by pilings set into the earth. The theatre briefly closed in April of 2001 when Loews Cineplex decided that the theatre couldn't compete with the bigger multiplexes. The theatre reopened in December of 2001 as a non profit organization run by the community. The theatre closed in 2011 due to a lack of funds. The building is currently up for lease...
