The Fairfield Aluminum Foundry Company was founded in 1909 and was originally located in Southport before moving to the Post Road in 1928. The company specialized in making aircraft supplies and engines.The foundry was later occupied by the Exide Storage Battery company until it closed in 1981. The plant was abandoned and ended up being demolished in 2005.
