<text>Thaddeus Burr (b. Aug.22 1735) first appeared in public life as Deputy for Fairfield at the Oct. session of the General Court, in 1769. He would serve in this role in 1771 and from 1775-1778; he was also high sheriff of the County in 1779. In 1775 he was a member of the town committee of war.

The Burr family's large estate in Fairfield, Connecticut produced abundant crops for export, making Burr one of the most distinguished and prosperous gentlemen in the colonies. He was the uncle of Aaron Burr and lived in the Burr mansion, first built in 1732. (The mansion, burned during the British attack on Fairfield, was rebuilt in 1790 and still stands today.) </text>
