Pond at Birdcraft Sanctuary. The Birdcraft Sanctuary was created by pioneer conservationist Mabel Osgood Wright in 1914 as a songbird sanctuary. It formed the basis for the Connecticut Audubon Society, which Wright had founded in 1898.
