Gustave Whitehead, sitting with the checkered shawl, and Arthur Watson, sitting in his car (the other man sitting was Watson's chauffeur). The caption written on the back was "This car did its share of towing Whitehead planes for take-off." The photograph was taken on the grounds of the Brooklawn Country Club.
